Gift guide
Gifts for horse lovers that actually get used
Shopping for a horse person is harder than it looks. They already own more brushes than they can count, they have opinions about every brand of saddle pad, and anything for the horse itself has to fit, suit and be approved by a trainer. That is why so many horse-themed gifts end up in a drawer: a generic horse on a generic mug says "I know you like horses", but not much more.
The gifts that get used tend to share two things. They are part of the everyday routine — the early coffee, the phone that comes to the barn, the bag that lives in the car — and they are about their horse, not just any horse. This guide walks through what works, what to skip, and how to make a personal gift without guessing at tack sizes.
Start with their horse, not "horses"
Almost every horse owner has a camera roll full of their horse: ears-forward shots from the saddle, muddy field photos, show pictures, the one where the horse is clearly judging them. A gift printed with one of those photos is instantly theirs. It also sidesteps the biggest risk of horse gifts — buying something for a discipline or style they do not ride.
If you cannot get to their phone, ask a barn friend or family member, or look through photos they have already shared with you. A sharp, well-lit picture of the horse’s head or a side-on shot standing square works best; we explain what prints well in our photo guide.
Everyday things beat display pieces
A mug is used every morning. A phone case comes to every lesson. A hoodie gets pulled on for cold evening turnout. These are the pieces that keep a gift in daily life, which is why they are the backbone of our made-to-order range.
Display pieces still have their place — a canvas of a horse who has been part of the family for twenty years is a different kind of gift — but if you are unsure, pick something they will touch every day.
Match the gift to their barn life
Think about where they spend their time. Someone who rides before work lives on coffee, so a mug is a safe bet. A teenager who rides after school will use a phone case and a hoodie constantly. Someone who hauls to shows every weekend always needs another tote for numbers, gloves, hoof picks and snacks. And for the person who spends every evening on the sofa scrolling horse videos, a plush blanket with their horse on it is hard to beat.
Price matters too. A mug or a tote is an easy thank-you for a barn friend or instructor; a blanket or a canvas is more of a milestone gift.
What to skip
Unless you know their exact sizes and preferences, avoid tack, rugs and anything that touches the horse. Fit, fabric and brand loyalty matter, and a wrong guess is a hassle to return. The same goes for supplements and treats — many horses are on specific diets. A personal item for the rider is the safer route.
Make it a surprise without spoiling it
Because every piece is made to order, you can ship it straight to them: enter their name and address as the shipping address at checkout. If you would rather tell them in advance, our free reveal card lets you send a short note and a picture of what is coming, as a link you can text or email. Nothing is stored on our side — the message lives in the link.
Shipping is free in the US, orders ship within 48 business hours, and returns are free within 30 days, so the timing is predictable. For holidays we still recommend ordering early.
